Chief Corey Solferino
Corey Solferino brings extensive law enforcement and executive leadership experience to the Reno Police Department. Prior to his appointment, Solferino served as Undersheriff for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, where he helped oversee major operational and administrative functions within one of the region’s largest public safety agencies. His responsibilities included leadership over patrol operations, detention services, special operations, administrative services, personnel management, organizational accountability, and the budget process.
Throughout his career with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Solferino has served in a variety of command and executive leadership roles, including Chief Deputy over Operations, Detention Operations and Services, and Governmental Affairs. In these roles, he led large teams, managed complex public safety operations, supported employee development, advanced community engagement efforts, and worked to strengthen organizational professionalism and accountability.
Solferino has also played a significant role in regional public safety collaboration across northern Nevada. He has worked closely with law enforcement partners, including the Reno Police Department, on coordinated operations, mutual aid responses, and public safety strategies designed to improve service delivery and community outcomes.
His experience across patrol, detention, special operations, administration, policy, budgeting, and interagency coordination provides a strong foundation for leading the Reno Police Department. As Chief of Police, Solferino will focus on supporting the men and women of the department, enhancing public trust, advancing professional standards, and ensuring the department remains aligned with its mission to serve and protect the Reno community.
