The Records Division is responsible for maintaining internal document control over all original reports, including all crime, arrest and traffic accident reports which are received by the Department. This Division's personnel provide copy distribution, confirmation of warrants and dissemination of documents and information per court order, state statute, and internal policy.

The Work Applicant Registration Unit is responsible for the registration of convicted persons and the processing and fingerprinting of employees for the issuance of work cards as required by Reno Municipal Code and Nevada Revised Statute, i.e. taxi, limousine, and tow truck drivers, massage technicians, exotic dancers, and solicitors. This Unit is also charged with the responsibility of fingerprinting and issuing City employee identification cards.

Criminal History Requests must be submitted on-line by clicking on this link
CITY OF RENO PUBLIC RECORDS PORTAL.
If you are obtaining a Criminal History for a person other than yourself, you will need to obtain a signed authorization, along with the listed personal identification, from that individual. If no signed authorization is received with your request you will only obtain Reno Police Department arrests resulting in a conviction in accordance with NRS 179A.

By law, the department has up to five (5) business days to respond to your request from the date of receipt. Every effort will be made to process your request as soon as possible.
Requests for information may be sent online, in-person pick up, or mailed upon receipt of self-addressed stamped envelope.
Provide the necessary information. An invoice will be sent to you in the amount of $50.00 per request/letter as per the fee schedule. Once the invoice is paid, the information will be provided to you online.
Only the subject of the arrest records may get copies of their record, unless they authorize someone else to specifically obtain the records. Authorization must be written and notarized, and the person authorized must have a valid (not expired) government-issued photo identification. This authorization must mention the name of the person that will be retrieving the records as well.
All of our records are public records, but per the Donrey vs. Bradshaw decision, not all reports are subject to disclosure at the time of your request. We will do our best to provide you with everything you are entitled to receive. If there is a problem with receiving particular information, please ask to speak with a supervisor. You may be referred to consult with our department’s legal advisor.

The U-Visa is available to undocumented immigrants who have met each of the five criteria listed below:
- The person has been the victim of one or more qualifying crimes.
- The person has suffered substantial physical or mental abuse as a result of having been a victim of one or more qualifying crimes.
- The person has useful information concerning the crime which occurred.
- The person has helped, or is likely to help, in the investigation or prosecution of the crime; and
- The crime committed violated the laws of the United States or occurred in the United States.
