The City of Reno is committed to creating the conditions for businesses, residents and investment to thrive. Through strategic public investment, redevelopment, infrastructure, planning and partnerships, the City works to strengthen Reno's economy and create vibrant, connected and resilient places. The Reno Redevelopment Agency (RDA) is one of the City's primary tools for supporting investment and revitalization in designated redevelopment areas. Today, the RDA's redevelopment and placemaking work is carried out under a new public-facing identity: re:up — Reno's Redevelopment and Urban Placemaking Agency.
Created to address underutilized and deteriorating areas, the RDA uses tools authorized under Nevada law to encourage investment and improve the places where people live, work, visit and do business. Through targeted public investment, the Agency helps unlock private investment, strengthen businesses and neighborhoods, support housing, improve public spaces and connections, and preserve Reno's historic and cultural assets. The RDA operates within two designated redevelopment areas: RDA 1, established in 1980, and RDA 2, established in 2005.
