The Office of Economic Development is currently in the process of drafting the City of Reno Economic Development Strategy (REDS). The REDS is primarily a compilation of policies and strategies from existing plans, such as the ReImagine Reno Master Plan and the Downtown Action Plan, but it also contains new strategies and specific metrics for accomplishing the various goals and objectives.

Research commenced in August 2018, and the first complete draft (dated May 28, 2019) was made available for public review on Monday, June 17, 2019.The most recent draft can be found at: Reno Economic Development Strategy - Draft 19Aug2019.

First review by the Reno City Council has been rescheduled for December 04, 2019. Please contact Aric Jensen at jensena@reno.gov or 775-321-8302 with comments or suggestions by November 20, 2019. Comments or suggestions submitted after November 20th will not be included in the staff report, but individuals may also comment in person or writing at the Council meeting on December 04th.
