Where specific questions arise about applicability, scope, impact, or any other aspects of these sanctions, it is the responsibility of individuals to review the relevant statutes and regulations.

  1. How to Apply

    A person that resides in a residential parking permit zone may apply for a parking permit at the City of Reno Neighborhood Services Office. The office is located at 1 E. First Street, 12th Floor and applications will be accepted Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

  2. Required Documentation

    Each applicant is required to provide a completed application along with the following items per RMC CHAPTER 6.07:

    • Current DMV vehicle registration
    • Current Picture ID
    • Current Proof of Residency
      • Accepted forms of residency include:
        • Current Lease (Sub-Leases will not be accepted), valid through the expiration of permit.
        • Utility Bill in applicant’s name,
        • Voter registration card,
        • Real Estate Tax Statement,
        • Deed, or
        • Homeowner’s or Renter's Insurance Policy.

  3. Cost of Permit

    The cost of each permit is $11.00 for a six (6) month period, or $22.00 for an annual pass (if eligible).  

  4. Duration of Permit

    Beginning July 1, 2016, there are now two (2) types of Residential Permits:

    • Homeowners or Long Term Residents may apply for a one (1) year permit. The date this permit is effective July 1 expiring June 30 of the next calendar year.
      • Homeowner is recognized as the owner of record according to the Washoe County Assessor’s Office who resides in the property for a minimum of six (6) months each year.
      • Long Term Resident is a person who has resided at the permitted address for four (4) or more years.
    • Short Term Residents may apply for a six (6) month permit. The dates these permits are effective July 1 expiring December 31 and January 1 expiring June 30.
    • Multi Family Property Residents may be eligible for permit if the adequate off street parking is unavailable. You may contact the City of Reno Neighborhood Services Office at 775-334-2293 to inquire.

  5. Visitor Passes

    Each residence may be issued one (1) complimentary visitor permit with the purchase of at least one (1) residential parking permit. These passes will be limited to one (1) visitor pass per address.

  6. Miscellaneous
  • Residential permits will be limited based on the number of street parking spaces available as determined by City of Reno Traffic Engineer.
  • No permits shall be issued to any applicants with outstanding parking citations.
  • City of Reno Neighborhood Services Office has the right to refuse, deny, or review any documentation submitted with Residential Permit Applications.
