The instructions below can be downloaded in our Sewer Rebate Brochure and application. If you are a City of Reno resident and a property owner or renter, and you are receiving benefits from:

  • The Nevada State Welfare Division Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEA) 
  • Social Security Income (SSD) due to a disability 
  • Supplemental Social Security Income (SSSI)
  • Veterans Administration Disability (VA) benefits due to a disability

You may also be eligible for a sewer rebate from the City of Reno.

Please provide the annual letter of determination of benefits showing SSD, SSSI or VA disability.

RENTERS: In order to qualify, the sewer account for the property listed must be current at time of application.
Tenants of hotels, motels, and flexible stay apartments do not qualify for the City of Reno Sewer Rebate Program.

PROPERTY OWNERS: If your sewer account is delinquent and you are eligible for a rebate, your rebate will be applied to your delinquent sewer account.

The City of Reno is rebating up to $168 per household to eligible applicants. Funds will be disbursed on a first come/ first serve basis. The rebate will be issued to only those eligible applicants who apply during the period of July 1, 2018 to August 31, 2018. Applications will not be accepted until July 1, 2018 and those received after August 31, 2018 will not be eligible.

 Applications may be obtained by:

  • Downloading the application here.
  • Writing to the above address
  • Picking up an application in person from Reno City Hall (located at 1 E 1st Street—1st Floor)
  • Calling (775) 334-2365

A completed application must be submitted in person by August 31, 2018. No exceptions will be made. You must provide your name, address, proof of involvement in the mentioned programs above, and proof that you are a City of Reno resident.

A: No, you must be the individual who is disabled to be eligible for the rebate.

Q: Is there a specific percentage of disability that determines VA eligibility?
A: No, any percentage of VA disability triggers eligibility for the rebate.

Q: I rent, and pay my rent on time, but the property has a delinquent sewer account, am I still eligible for the rebate?
A: Yes, the rebate is based on proof of rent payment and occupancy (lease/rent agreement)
