Primary and General Elections

Filing Period 

  • Judicial Candidate Filing:  January 6 - January 17, 2020
  • Non-Judicial Candidate Filing:  March 2 - March 13, 2020

Appointments are available and highly recommended.  Please email the Reno City Clerk Ashley D. Turney at cityclerk@reno.gov or call 775-334-2030 to schedule your appointment. Walk-in candidate filing will be accepted, however, appointments are preferred, and will be taken first.

FILING FEE:  $30.00 (Must be paid with cash, cashier’s check, or money order)

Offices up for Election

  • Municipal Court Judge - Department One
    • Current office holder - Judge Gene Drakulich
  • Councilmember - Ward 1 (4 year term)
    • Current office holder - Jenny Brekhus
  • Councilmember - Ward 3 (4 year term)
    • Current office holder - Oscar Delgado
  • Councilmember - Ward 5 (4 year term)
    • Current office holder - Neoma Jardon
  • Councilmember - At-Large (4 year term)
    • Current office holder - Devon Reese

Candidate Qualifications

Councilmembers

  • Must be an actual resident of the ward they represent, or if representing the City at large, a resident of the City of Reno, for at least 30 days prior to the last date for candidate filing. Councilmembers elected by ward must continue to live within that ward for the term of office.
  • Must be a qualified elector within the City.

Municipal Court Judge

  • Must be an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Nevada.
  • Must be a resident of the City of Reno for at least 30 days prior to the last date for candidate filing.
  • Shall not engage in the private practice of law.
  • Must be a qualified elector within the City.

Voter Registration Deadlines for the 2020 General Election

  • By Mail or In-Person:  Postmarked no later than October 6, 2020
  • Online:  Last day to register online is October 29, 2020
