Professional Biography

Devon T. Reese proudly serves as the Ward 5 City Councilmember, having been first elected in 2020, and re-elected in 2024. A dedicated local attorney, he specializes in civil litigation at Reese Ring Velto, PLLC, where he represents labor unions, small government entities, businesses, and families. Previously, Devon held the role of Vice President and General Counsel for a regional construction company.

 

Devon earned his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, in 1996 (Go Roos!) and his Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas in 2000 (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!). He is licensed to practice in both state and federal courts in Nevada and had the honor of clerking for Justice Cliff Young at the Nevada Supreme Court. A proud member of the Washoe County Bar Association, Devon has also completed the prestigious Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in July 2023.

 

Born and raised in Reno, Devon is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys travel, competitive tennis, and the arts. He and his husband are proud parents to three children. With over 35 years of experience in competitive speech and debate, Devon has also volunteered as a debate coach for the nationally ranked McQueen High School Speech and Debate team.
