City of Reno
Home MenuE-Scooter Share
In 2022, the City of Reno launched an e-scooter share option with Bird in Downtown and Midtown Reno. Together, we have a responsibility to keep our neighborhoods safe and clean, which means keeping our sidewalks clear, and reducing instances of individuals riding scooters on the sidewalk which may interfere with pedestrian’s ability to move freely throughout their city. In order to influence rider behavior and encourage riding in desired locations, riders need to both be educated on the appropriate places to ride and feel safe riding in those locations.
Bird Pricing Programs
- Community Pricing: Bird’s Community Pricing Program offers a
50% discount to certain riders. Pell grant recipients, select local nonprofit and community organizations, veterans, and senior citizens are eligible. To sign up for the Community Pricing Program, download the Bird app, create an account, and email your proof of eligibility to access@bird.co.
Ridership
- Must be 18 years old to ride.
- Know where to ride.
- Exercise care for pedestrians.
- We’re all in this together, so let’s be good neighbors and look out for one another.
- Ride in bike lanes or close to the right curb, unless in an area where sidewalk riding is allowed.
- Use of a helmet is encouraged. You can obtain a helmet from the Nevada Department of Transportation and Bird.
Bird also offers Community Mode. This allows anyone with a Bird account to report or provide feedback on vehicle-related issues such as poorly parked or damaged vehicles in their area. When a report is submitted, a member of the Bird team is assigned to correct the issue.
Operating Rules
There are important things to know when riding a Bird e-scooter in Reno. These are some, but not all of the rules.
- Adhere to "no sidewalk riding" requirements in Downtown and Midtown - it endangers members of our community who want to walk freely.
- Don’t park scooters where they block access to sidewalks or building entrances. Please park them near existing bike racks or in a micromobility hub when available.
- Park in designated areas only. Designated areas may be marked with a mat or sign, or barriers indicating where you may park. Other parking areas will be indicated in your Bird app.
