The City of Reno is committed to keeping our senior citizens connected to the community. The Reno Seniors EngAGED Initiative endeavors to involve seniors in the City of Reno through an array of activities, including technology classes, field trips, resource fairs, and beyond!

The Senior Resident Advisory Board advises City Council, advocates for issues facing seniors, promotes senior activities, events and programs and works to improve the lives of Reno Seniors through board member involvement.

Senior Art Classes

Join us for free art classes, in partnership with the Sierra Arts Foundation, get creative, and enjoy a relaxing experience. All supplies are provided. Limited capacity.

Now Accepting Applications: Older Adults Home Modification Program

The Older Adults Home Modification Program is currently accepting applications! Eligible applicants must:

  • Be 62 years of age or older; 
  • Have an income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI); and
  • You must own your home, live in it as your primary residence for a least a year, provide proof of ownership (through a current property tax statement or current homeowners insurance policy), and intend to remain in the home for at least two years after receiving free repairs from RTNNV.

Our community partner, Rebuilding Together Northern Nevada (RTNNV), is managing the application process on behalf of the program.

As of April 2023, a significant milestone was reached as one million dollars of ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funding was allocated to support seniors in our community. The funds were used to partner with Neighbor Network of Northern NevadaReno Food Systems, and Senior Engagement.

Join us for free line dance classes for seniors taught by Sara B Dancin'. No experience needed! Classes are held every Monday from 1:30pm-3pm and every Wednesday from 1:30pm-2:30pm at the Evelyn Mount Northeast Center, (1301 Valley Road).

The City of Reno is thrilled to announce the award of $5,000 through the AARP Community Challenge to support the continued revitalization of the Paradise Park Community Garden, in partnership with Reno Food Systems. This funding will enhance the garden with expanded programs and activities helping to activate the space for older adults and the broader community.

The AARP Community Challenge is a grant program to make tangible improvements in communities that jump-start long-term change. It is part of AARP’s nationwide Livable Communities initiative, which supports the efforts of cities, towns, neighborhoods and rural areas to become great places to live for people of all ages.
