City of Reno
Home MenuPublic Engagement Review Process
The City is conducting a Public Engagement Review process to better understand how constituents prefer to participate in shaping local policies, programs, and decisions. This process involves gathering feedback from residents, community organizations, and other stakeholders through surveys, interviews, and public forums. It also includes evaluating current engagement efforts to identify what works well and where improvements can be made.
Why it matters
By examining who is participating—and who may be left out—the City aims to create more effective and accessible engagement strategies. This review is essential to ensure that community voices are genuinely heard and considered in decision-making, ultimately leading to more transparent, responsive, and trusted governance.
This process will also help inform next steps related to a pause and review of Boards and Commissions, offering a strategic opportunity to align preferred engagement structures with current resources and the changing needs of the community.
This review process will help us:
- Understand how you prefer to engage with City government
- Identify barriers that prevent engagement
- Improve the inclusivity and accessibility of our engagement efforts
- Create stronger connections between community members and local government
- Directly shape how we engage with the in the future
Public Engagement Participation
June and July were busy months getting input from the community on this topic. Via community drop-ins, outreach, and meetings, we heard from over 700 community members. Many thanks to everyone that participated in this process! Your participation provided us with a better understanding of community needs and preferred ways to engage with the City, which was reported to City Council on July 23, 2025.
