Reno is blessed with one of the longest-lived municipal bands in history - the Reno Municipal Band. Founded near the turn of the century in 1890, the Reno Municipal Band has entertained generations of residents and visitors, keeping the lost tradition of a "town band" alive in downtown Reno. The Band performs a variety of several different sounds including concert, big swing, dixieland, western, brass quintet, banjo, barbershop quartet and more.
The band's season is primarily during the summer months at Wingfield Park Amphitheater, located at First and Arlington Streets, along the Truckee River in downtown Reno.
