Public Art Master Plan
Public art is often thought of as the place where arts and culture meet community. Over the last thirty years, the City has funded and placed nearly two hundred artworks – from signature sculptures to painted traffic boxes to community-initiated projects – in communities throughout Reno. The City Council’s strategic priorities include creating vibrant neighborhoods and public places through arts and culture initiatives.
Reno Public Art Master Plan
The City of Reno adopted the initial Public Art Master Plan in 2002 with a Cultural Master Plan adopted in 2012. In the spring of 2024, the City of Reno Arts & Culture Department embarked on a process of positioning the City’s public art program to best meet the opportunities ahead. The process included updating the City’s public art processes, master plan, and ordinance, which was led by consultants Todd Bressi, Amina Cooper, and Jessica Cusick, and concluded in fall of 2024.
This process included numerous conversations, workshops and surveys to best reflect the community’s values and prepare for the opportunities to come.
In March 2025 the Reno City Council unanimously adopted the Public Art Master Plan.
