The City of Reno’s galleries showcase the work of local and regional artists while beautifying city buildings and public space.

Reno has three main galleries: the Metro Gallery at City Hall and the McKinley Galleries East and West at the McKinley Arts & Culture Center. These galleries have year-round exhibitions and artist receptions that are free and open to the public. The City also has four open air gallery spaces: the Canyon Flats Video Wall, the University Way & Lake Street Window Galleries, and the citywide Aerial Gallery.

Metro Gallery at City Hall

The Metro Gallery is a professional gallery space located in City Hall that shows work from local and regional artists. The space is programmed through the City Artist Program and partnerships with the Nevada Arts Council, Nevada Humanities, and other arts organizations.

Metro Gallery

February 23 – April 17, 2026
Reception: Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, 5:00 – 7:00pm

On the ten-year anniversary of the Basin and Range National Monument, three friends curate a documentary photography and video exhibit documenting this remote region of Nevada—one located several hours by car north of Las Vegas and Southeast of Reno. The monument features 1,100 square miles of spectacular undeveloped mountains and valleys in southeastern Nevada, and its protected status preserves geological and historical features for future generations while continuing to provide access for recreation, grazing, and military training.

The collaboration behind this exhibit echoes the cooperation among Nevadan volunteers, artists, researchers, locals, and visitors who enjoy and help protect our state’s wealth. Basin and Range National Monument is the result of an innovative collaboration among multiple stakeholders. At the Heart of Nevada parallels this creation, focusing on multiple uses of the land and collaborations among these stakeholders. Among the photographs and videos by multiple contributors are representations of geology and history, ranching, volunteering, recreation, and artistic and military engagement.

Since 2019 the Metro Gallery has featured over 35 exhibitions and over 1,450 artists in City Hall.

McKinley Galleries East and West

The McKinley Galleries are located in the City’s historic Arts and Culture Center and show work from local community groups, schools, and organizations. These galleries host the annual Senior Art Show and Veterans Art Show. New exhibitions are programmed every seven weeks.

Our Center - Postcards from the Edge of Nevada

Postcards From the Edge (of Nevada) is a community-driven exhibition that invites queer artists and allies to reflect on place, identity, and survival at the margins. Using the humble postcard as both artwork and message, this exhibition transforms personal expression into a shared act of connection—one that crosses distance, isolation, and silence.

Wedge Ceramics - Reno Mug Shots

February 23 – April 2, 2026
Reception: Thursday, February 26th, 2026, 5pm to 7pm

The artists at the Wedge Ceramics Studio are thrilled to present “Reno Mug Shots: vessels, possibly made for drinking, inspired by Reno”. Making mugs is something all ceramic artists take comfort, joy, and pride in, each for their own reasons. This is not unlike living in Reno and Northern Nevada, where we delight in Reno each in our own way, making it our own, stamping it with our signature. But our individual marks, left on mugs, left on our town, can really only be understood when seen as a whole, as if we’re all working towards the same unknown goal.

Canyon Flats Video Wall

The Canyon Flats Video Wall is a video art exhibition space that shows work from local and regional artists in downtown Reno. The City of Reno Arts & Culture Advisory Board partners with Canyon Flats Apartments, an off-campus student housing community, to program the Video Wall. The space is designed as a rotating gallery that features creative and innovative video work.

Over 30 artists have had their artwork shown on the Canyon Flats Video Wall since it’s installation in 2021.

Canyon Flats Video Wall is in the Canyon Flats building, located at 661 N Center St, Reno, NV 89503. The video wall is located on the outside of the building on Virginia St. and is on a loop and available for viewing 24/7.

University Way & Lake Street Window Galleries

The University Way and Lake Street Window Galleries are programmed through a partnership with the University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee Meadows Community College. The windows display images of artwork from students enrolled in art classes ranging from photography and drawing to printmaking and gallery practices.

Exhibitions are updated each summer and can be viewed at any time by people passing by. Center St Windows

University Way Window Gallery

Experimental Visions: Explorations in Photography

The exhibition, Experimental Visions: Explorations in Photography, curated by Kyle Karrasch, features work by five emerging artists from Truckee Meadows Community College who challenge the conventions of traditional photography. Through experimental processes such as infrared imaging, pinhole photography, composite layering, and camera modification, these artists push the boundaries of image-making, embracing unpredictability as a part of their creative practice.

The exhibition explores photography as a transformative medium—one that goes beyond documentation to question perception, materiality, and memory. Each artist brings a unique conceptual approach, resulting in ethereal and abstract compositions that reflect on time, movement, and instability. Together, their works form a dynamic conversation about the evolving possibilities of photography in the contemporary art landscape.

Participating artists Jaime Ramey, Pedro Gomez, Anthony Jacks, Breeann St. Onge, and Will Barber.

Lake Street Windows Gallery

Echoes of a Man-Made Wilderness

Step into a world where imagination meets reflection in "Echoes of a Man-Made Wilderness". This showcase highlights the work of Truckee Meadows Community College art instructors, each exploring the delicate—and sometimes disruptive—interplay between humanity, nature, and technology. Together, these works form a compelling narrative that invites us to contemplate our place within the natural world.

This multi-disciplinary exhibition includes: Rossitza Todorova, Candace Garlock, Kyle Karrasch, Wes Lee, Brandon Lacow, and Miles Hall.

About University Way and Lake Street Window Galleries

The University Way and Lake Street Window Galleries are on the east exterior wall of the Reno Ballroom along University Way between Fourth and Fifth Streets, and on the east exterior wall of the Reno Events Center along Lake Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets. Both galleries are free and open 24 hours a day.

Aerial Gallery

About the Aerial Gallery

In March 2023, the City of Reno and the Arts & Culture Commission currently unveiled a new aerial gallery featuring artistic banners created by local artists. The banners can be seen on light poles around Locomotion Plaza near the Reno Arch, on Virginia Street around City Hall and the Truckee River, and on 4th Street in the Brewery District. These artist-designed banners add character to our streets, foster a sense of place, increase awareness around public art, and support local artists

Artists currently on view include Sameer Asnani, Haley Deiro, April Gratix, Chelsea Houston, Sean Martin, and Sian O'Hara.
