    On Wednesday September 27, 2017 executives with Northern Nevada Law Enforcement agencies will join Reno City Councilman Oscar Delgado, and Assemblyman Edgar Flores, to discuss in an open community forum, immigration issues facing our community. The purpose of this forum is to bring the community together to discuss topics related to immigration and refugee reform in our community. This event was organized by Dr. Cesar Minera, Pastor for Palabra de Vida Church, and Dr. Carina Black, director of the Northern Nevada International Center.

    City of Reno celebrates Fiesta Latin@ and recognizes Reno People Project honorees

    As part of Reno’s year-long 150th birthday celebration, the City of Reno will host the inaugural Fiesta Latin@ on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Reno City Plaza. The next 15 recipients of the Reno People Project will be announced during Fiesta Latin@ at 5:30 p.m. Ultimately, 150 people will be recognized by May 9, 2018.

  • No residential structures lost in Woodchuck Fire

    The Reno Fire Department (RFD) responded today at 1:30 p.m. to a fire in west Reno on the west side of Plateau Road. Forward progress on the 62-acre Woodchuck Fire (#WoodchuckFire) was stopped at approximately 5:30 p.m. No residential structures were lost, and no damage to residential structures occurred. There were no injuries to people or to any animals.

    Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve was selected as Chair of the United States Conference of Mayors Standing Committee on Tourism, Arts, Parks, Entertainment, and Sports (TAPES) this week. Mayor Schieve will be the first woman to Chair the committee in over 25 years.

  • City of Reno unveils renovated yoga space at Evelyn Mount facility

    Media and the public are invited to join City of Reno staff and the High Fives Foundation at Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. There will be a series of presentations and a ribbon cutting followed by a short adaptive yoga class with athlete Lyndsay Slocumb.
