Public Review Period Starts for the 2026 Community Wildfire Protection Plan

Post Date:11/04/2025 10:31 a.m.
The Reno Fire Department (RFD), in collaboration with SWCA Environmental Consultants (SWCA), is pleased to announce that the public review period for the draft 2026 City of Reno Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) has started. The review period will run through Dec. 3. A public webinar is scheduled for Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.

The 2026 City of Reno CWPP is a collaborative effort to enhance the safety and resilience of our community from wildfires. This plan aims to identify and address vulnerabilities while emphasizing the protection of lives, property, and valued resources.

“We invite our community to take part in this important step of the CWPP planning process,” said Reno Fire Marshal John Beck. “Feedback from our residents is key to creating a plan that meets our community's needs and provides the most effective fire safety measures for those living in the wildland-urban interface.”

To access the draft plan and participate in the review process, residents can visit the Reno Fire Department’s CWPP main page. Those interested in attending the public webinar on Nov. 19 can register to attend using the Zoom registration page. Attendees will be able to voice their opinions on the CWPP draft to SWCA and RFD representatives directly. The public webinar will offer Spanish assistance.

For those unable to attend the public webinar, a City of Reno CWPP Feedback Form is available. Both the feedback form and shortened CWPP drafts can be accessed in English and Spanish.

In addition to the webinar, residents may also provide input in-person at City Hall. Feedback forms will be available at the welcome desk in the first-floor lobby, in both English and Spanish.
