The Reno Municipal Court invites media to the 16th CAMO-RNO Veteran Treatment Court graduation on Tuesday, November 4 at 1:30 p.m. The CAMO-RNO (Court Assistance Military Offenders in Reno) is a problem-solving treatment court that serves Veterans and active-duty military personnel, charged with misdemeanor crimes.
Hon. Judge Shelly T. O’Neill will speak at the graduation to highlight the graduates’ work and importance of the program, consisting of three new graduates, adding to the 105 Veterans and active-duty military personnel who have graduated since the program’s inception in October 2018.
“I’ve had the privilege of serving as the Judge for CAMO-RNO since it started seven years ago, and it’s always an honor to serve our military members with the respect and dignity they deserve,” said Hon. Judge Shelly T. O’Neill. “I'm very proud of our graduates as they continue building bright and meaningful futures.”
The CAMO-RNO Veterans Court was initially established through grant support from the U.S. Department of Justice, followed by an enhancement grant of $399,839 awarded in October 2020. Currently, CAMO-RNO is funded by the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) via the Nevada Supreme Court, in addition to federal grant funding obtained in 2023 from the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
