On July 28, 2025, at approximately 7:25 a.m., the Reno Police Department along with multiple partner agencies responded to the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino located at 2500 East Second Street in Reno, Nevada for a report of an active shooter.
The Reno Police Department arrived on scene within two and a half minutes. Officers immediately located the suspect at which time an officer involved shooting occurred. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local area hospital. The suspect’s condition is unknown at this time. There is no known continuing threat to the public.
Officers, first responders and medical personnel from the GSR provided initial medical care to multiple victims and the suspect on scene. Several victims were transported to local hospitals by REMSA and their conditions are unknown at this time.
This is currently an active scene and investigation. We ask the public to please avoid the west side parking lot. The Sparks Police Department is taking lead on the officer involved shooting and active shooter investigations with the assistance of the Washoe County Sheriffs Office.
All employees or patrons should use the Greg Street entrance and avoid the west side parking lot of the GSR. This investigation is still ongoing.
