Applications Open for ‘Love Your Block’ Mini Grant Program

Funding applications open February 14 for residents interested in leading community-driven projects to improve Ward 3 neighborhoods

The City of Reno, in partnership with the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University, introduces the ‘Love Your Block’ Mini Grant Program. This initiative invites residents to apply for assistance for neighborhood improvement projects in Ward 3. Applications will be accepted from February 14, 2025 through March 22, 2025. Selected applicants will be notified by April 22, 2025. Once awarded, these mini grants will support a variety of initiatives to help contribute to the revitalization of neighborhood and community spaces in Ward 3. Projects can include but are not limited to the following: small home repair, community clean-ups, neighborhood improvements, public art, and more. 

“Each Love Your Block city helps demonstrate one of the most important skills required to drive innovation in city halls – the ability to center resident voices,” said Amanda Daflos, Executive Director of the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins. “We are excited to partner with the City of Reno to build on the successful legacy of support from Bloomberg Philanthropies and Cities of Service and accelerate their efforts to partner with communities to drive local impact through funding, staff support, and the innovation expertise to help sustain resident-led change.” 

Eligibility criteria is as follows:  

Applications are open to individual residents over the age of 18, groups or organizations 
Applicants do not need to own the property to apply (renters welcome), but they must be willing to obtain permission from the owner 
Project budgets must be between $500 to $3,000 
Project must benefit the Ward 3 community and improve the neighborhood 
Projects must be completed by July 18, 2025
