The City of Reno continues to address challenges with local housing and affordability and invites the public to attend four upcoming virtual meetings to learn about a number of proposed solutions impacting the zoning code. As required by Assembly Bill 213, the City is working to create an expedited review process and incentives that are specific to affordable housing developments. The City is also looking to create additional incentives in the zoning code that will help to encourage infill development and provide for greater types of housing products to address the missing middle.
Proposed changes tied to the zoning code include:
-
Zoning incentives for affordable housing developments
-
Density bonuses tailored for infill areas
-
Flexibility in developing various housing types, including duplex, triplex, and fourplex units
-
Streamlining the entitlement review and building permit process for residential projects (by-right)
