City of Reno to Host Six Biggest Little Spring Clean-Ups

Residents in the City of Reno are invited to participate in a series of upcoming spring-cleaning opportunities. Residents can bring appropriate waste to each event or by contributing volunteer time, information can be found on the community cleanups reno.gov website.   

 Household hazardous materials and e-waste will be accepted at some of the clean ups. Specific dates are below.  The City of Reno is partnering with Hero Environmental Services, Redwood Materials, and local nonprofits to help residents properly dispose of household hazardous, electronic, and junk items.  

 “These clean-ups are always so popular, and we are excited to provide this service to our residents again,” said Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve. “It's been a long, cold winter so now is the time to get our homes and neighborhoods looking their best."  

Below, you will find a full list of dates and sites for clean-ups in spring 2024.   

  • Saturday April 13, 9 AM - 12 PM:  University of Nevada, Reno - Enter parking lot on Virginia St./17th St. (Hazardous and e-waste accepted) 

 

  • Saturday April 27, 9 AM - 12 PM: O’Brien Middle School, 5000 Silver Lake Rd, Reno, NV 89506 

 

  • Saturday May 11, 9 AM - 12 PM: McQueen High School 6055 Lancer St., Reno, NV 89523 (Hazardous and e-waste accepted) 

 

  • Saturday May 18, 9 AM - 12 PM:  Manzanita Park, 630 Manzanita Ln, Reno, NV 89509 (Hazardous and e-waste accepted) 

 

  • Saturday June 1, 9 AM - 12 PM: Vaughn Middle School, 1200 Bresson Ave, Reno, NV 89502 

 

  • Saturday June 8, 9 AM - 12 PM: Reno High School, 395 Booth St, Reno, NV 89509 

Residents will be turned away once bins are full.  

Items accepted for dumpster bins during regular clean-ups: 

  • Large trash and debris 

 Items accepted for dumpster bins during e-waste/hazardous waste events:  

  • Large trash and debris 

  • Household hazardous materials (including paint or oil)  

  • Electronics and batteries  

  • 1 large appliance per household 

  • Bicycles 

Items not accepted at any clean-up: 

  • CRT TV’s (tube TV’s)  

  • Asbestos/ asbestos related items  

  • Radioactive smoke detectors  

  • Green waste or tree limbs
