From mobile vending units to alcohol and tobacco, the City of Reno is looking for public feedback as it begins the process of updating certain business and privileged license titles of Reno Municipal Code (RMC). In March 2023, the Reno City Council directed the Business License Department to rewrite Title 4 “Business License Code” and Title 5 “Privileged Licenses, Permits and Franchises,” and the City is now inviting the public to several upcoming community meetings.
Mostly unchanged for over 25 years, some sections of RMC have been adopted, repealed, and amended. This has created inconsistencies, contradictions, and in some instances, outdated regulations.
“We want to meet with the public so we can hear directly from them about the impacts of current business license codes,” said Lance Ferrato, Director of Business Licensing. “With these revisions, we want to create an efficient and clear set of regulations to effectively guide and govern businesses in the City.”
All meetings will be held at the Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center, 1301 Valley Rd, Reno, NV 89512, in the Tuscarora Room. Each topic will be discussed twice: from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Spanish assistance will be available at all meetings. A list of topics that will be discussed is below:
