Sewer project to impact traffic in North Valleys area

Post Date:06/11/2020 8:10 AM
The public is advised that City of Reno Public Works is in the beginning stages of a sewer main replacement project in the area of Golden Valley Road and North Virginia Street. The contractor is starting work this week in preparation for the primary project period, which begins on Monday.

Starting on Monday, June 15, 2020, North Virginia Street will be closed for approximately three weeks from Security Circle to Golden Valley Road. This closure will be 24 hours a day until Sunday, July 5, 2020. Business and residential access will be maintained throughout the project; however, through traffic will not be permitted. A detour map is attached.

Every effort will be made to minimize traffic inconveniences and to maintain appropriate signage to assure road safety in work areas. Please allow for additional time when traveling in this area. Updated traffic lane closures and detours are available at Reno.gov/RoadClosures.

The Golden Valley Force Main Replacement Project was approved by Reno City Council on April 8, 2020, and the project includes approximately 5,400 linear feet of sewer force main for the Golden Valley Sewer Lift Station.
