January 22, 2020 Reno City Council Highlights

Post Date:01/22/2020 11:39 AM

We’ve summarized the outcomes of a few key agenda items from today’s Regular Meeting of the Reno City Council:

D.I.1 - 1,000 Homes in 120 Days

Council approved the first round of fee deferrals for applicants in the program. The program received more than 2,000 proposed units and all are designed to be streamlined for construction. Applicants must commit to construction within 18 months, however. The fees will only be deferred, and not waived, and must be fully paid back. The proposals include affordable multi-family units, along with a handful of senior housing units. Each of the proposals must still go through the traditional planning and approval process. All of them are located within the McCarran Ring, and the majority are in Opportunity Zones.

F.2 - Innovation Drive Zone Change

Council adopted an ordinance amending zoning of approximately 1.5 acres of Industrial Commercial land to General Office zoning.

G.1.1 - Historical Resources Commission Appointments

Council appointed Gregory Erny to the Commission.

G.1.2 - Tenant Issues and Concerns Citizen Advisory Board Appointments

Council approved Jeff Church, Matthew Fleming, Mark Miranda, and Floyd Rowley to the Board.

Reno City Council meetings are streamed live at Reno.Gov/Meetings and televised live on Charter Spectrum - Channel 194. Past public meetings can be viewed on YouTube.
