Reno Senior Discovery TV recognized in 2019 National Mature Media Awards Program

Post Date:01/09/2020 2:29 PM
Reno Senior Discovery TV (SDTV) was a winner in the 28th annual National Mature Media Awards Program. The program, presented by the Mature Market Resource Center — a national clearing house for the senior market — recognizes the nation’s finest marketing, communications, educational materials and programs designed and produced for older adults.

The winning video entry, “Comstock Lode Quilters’ Quilts of Valor,” received a Silver Award for the Category: Miscellaneous Marketing Communications, in the Government Division. Those involved with the production of “Quilts of Valor” were SDTV co-chairpersons Sandy Cyr (Director/Editor) and Nelson Cyr (Cinematographer). Interviewees from the Comstock Lode Quilters group included its founder Marsha Strand and volunteers Mona Crandall Hook and Lauri Thompson.

“We were delighted to participate in the 2019 Mature Media Awards Program, and we're honored to be selected a winner,” Nelson Cyr said. “The Comstock Lode Quilters is a great organization of almost 100 volunteers who create Quilts of Valor for World War II and other military veterans returning from Washington, D.C. War Memorial tours.

Round-trip flights from Reno to D.C. are provided free to qualified veterans by Honor Flight Nevada, which was founded by Jon Yuspa several years ago.

“Sandy and I were privileged to be selected to participate in the 29th flight to D.C. in September of this year, and yes, I too received a beautiful Quilt of Valor from the amazing Comstock Lode Quilters,” Nelson added.

The Awards Program entries were judged by a distinguished panel of mature market experts from across the United States for overall excellence of design, content, creativity and relevance to the senior market.
