December 4, 2019 Reno City Council Highlights
In our ongoing commitment to keep citizens and media informed, we’ve summarized the outcomes of a few key agenda items from today’s Regular Meeting of the Reno City Council:
C.1 - Bella Vista Ranch
Council approved the introduction of a zoning ordinance amendment to convert approximately 11 acres of commercial land to residential, allowing a maximum of 612 dwelling units to be developed. The proposed amendment also includes specifics on feral horses provisions, waterwise landscaping, an affordable housing charitable donation and a time duration on the development.
Council heard presentations and updates about concerns about residents living along the Truckee River. The Truckee Meadows Water Authority explained that while there are health concerns from encampments, water quality is high and perfectly safe. Staff presented a six-month contract for cleaning and restoration with Coit Services of Reno. Contracted staff would augment existing city resources and personnel. Council unanimously approved staff direction to move forward with contract terms.
