October 23, 2019 Reno City Council Highlights
In our ongoing commitment to keep citizens and media informed, we’ve summarized the outcomes of a few key agenda items from today’s Regular Meeting of the Reno City Council:
C.2 - Commercial Animal Business Moratorium
Council unanimously approved a six-month moratorium on new businesses and license transfers for the retail sale of dogs and cats in a commercial establishment. During the 6-month period, council will be presented with recommendations to update the Code impacting new business licenses and a ban on operations that currently engage in the retail sale of dogs and cats in existing commercial businesses.
Council approved the Zoning Map Amendment for the 979 acre housing project east of Washoe County Huffaker Hills Open Space. The agreement also includes additional contributions for affordable housing, emergency services, and tax payments related to an 11-acre community park.

Erik Scalise was reappointed to the Recreation and Parks Commission.
