City Seeks Input on Potential Text Amendment to the Development Agreement Section of the Reno Development Code

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Reno is providing an additional opportunity to submit comments on the proposed draft ordinance amendment to Reno Municipal Code.

TXT20-00006 (Development Agreement) - A request has been made to amend Reno Municipal Code Title 18, specifically Chapter 18.20 (Development Agreements).  This request is associated with the Title 18 Code Update "Renovation" and will propose revised text intended to facilitate the use of voluntary agreements as allowed pursuant to NRS 278.0201 through 278.0207, inclusive.

The draft Text Amendment under consideration includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Enhanced reference to NRS requirements. 
  • Removal of regional requirements and discretionary permits (PRS, SUP, PUD, and SPD requirements).
  • Removal of text that is redundant of NRS requirements.

In an effort to protect public health, we are asking that all comments be submitted in writing, in lieu of a public workshop, to the Planning Division at oswaldb@reno.gov or via US Postal Service to the City of Reno, Planning Division, P.O. Box 1900, Reno, NV, 89505 by 5 p.m. on July 15, 2020.

Washoe Legal Services hosts three Renters’ Rights Seminars at Reno City Hall

The City of Reno will assist Washoe Legal Services in presenting three public seminars about renters' rights during October 2019 at Reno City Hall. The meetings will be held on October 7, October 14, and October 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Reno City Council Chamber, located at 1 East First Street.

The community is invited to learn about the rights and protections that tenants have against such issues as unsanitary housing conditions and illegal evictions, and how renters may seal prior eviction records.

The schedule and topics of discussion for the three seminars are as follows:

  • October 7, 2019: Bedbugs and Code Enforcement
  • October 14, 2019: Eviction Rules and Procedures
  • October 21, 2019: Eviction Sealing

A Spanish language translator will be available, and the seminars will be livestreamed on the City of Reno’s Facebook page.
