City of Reno reaches zoning code update milestone

First section of draft code language now open for citizen input

Post Date:08/30/2019 1:21 PM

The City of Reno has introduced the first part of the draft zoning code language for public review and feedback.

This section of the code details:

  1. The proposed set of zoning districts;
  2. The land uses allowed in those zoning districts; and
  3. The standards that apply to certain land uses.

“In other words, it outlines what can be built and where it can be built,” City of Reno Community Development Director Arlo Stockham said. “The review of draft code language is an important step in the project. Community input is valued in this process. We will be increasing our outreach efforts in the next few months to ensure there are opportunities to learn more and ways to provide input.”

Digital Engagement Opportunities

The City of Reno’s Community Development department has launched a new online tool that allows the public to comment directly on the draft code language. You can leave suggestions, questions, and comments on specific sections throughout the document. The public is encouraged to use this tool to give input. It helps to identify specific sections that need revision before the code is adopted.

The public is also welcome to send input via email to CodeUpdate@Reno.Gov.

The City plans to release draft language for citywide development standards and procedures in the coming months. The public will have similar opportunities to get involved and provide input.
