April 10, 2019 Reno City Council Highlights

In our ongoing commitment to keep citizens and media informed, we’ve summarized the outcomes of a few key agenda items from today’s Regular Meeting of the Reno City Council:

D.1 - Low Income Housing Grant

Council approved the acceptance of a $400,000 in grant funds for a 44-unit development for affordable senior housing. The agreement with the Nevada Housing Division will loan the funds to the developer and maintain financial and regulatory obligations.

D.2.1 & D.2.2 - Northern Nevada HOPES Shelter Village

Council approved a resolution to convey city-owned property at 300 E. Fourth Street to the Northern Nevada HIV Outpatient Program, Education and Services (HOPES) group. The “Hope Springs” pilot project will create temporary housing and services for those in need of mental health treatment. Council also approved a grant of $250,000 for the individual shelter project.

G.1 - Citizen Appointments to Boards and Commissions

Council reappointed Douglas Roberts, Teresa Di Loreto, Arthur Sperber, Kathleen Taylor to the Building Enterprise Fund Advisory Committee.

G.2 - Elected Official Appointments

  • Council appointed the following positions:
  • Community Homelessness Advisory Board - Alternate: Mayor Hillary Schieve
  • Financial Advisory Board: Councilmember Reese
  • National League of Cities: Councilmember Weber
  • National League of Cities - Alternate: Councilmember Duerr
  • Truckee River Flood Management Authority - Alternate: Councilmember Jenny Brekhus
