Appointment made to fill vacancy on Reno City Council

Post Date:02/15/2019 7:38 PM
At the Special Meeting of the Reno City Council on February 15, 2019, Council unanimously approved to appoint Devon Reese to the At-Large vacancy. Reese was immediately sworn into office by Judge Gene Drakulich.

Prior to appointment, Council interviewed four finalists: Nathan Dupree, Britton Griffith, Krystal Minera, and Devon Reese.

On February 13, Council reviewed more than 100 candidates and selected the four finalists, who also participated in a public Q&A and Meet and Greet on February 14.

For background, David Bobzien previously served as the At-Large member of City Council, but recently resigned from his position to become the new Director of the Governor’s Office of Energy.

On January 23, Council discussed the vacancy and voted to move forward with an appointment process, not a special election. Per Reno City Charter, the vacancy must be filled within 30 days.
