Reno Fire Department offers free physical agility testing

Post Date:01/17/2018 8:23 AM
The Reno Fire Department (RFD) plans to test for recruit firefighters from February 12 to 16, 2018. These dates have been moved up from March 2018. In preparation, RFD is helping interested local citizens increase their chances of passing the physical agility portion of the recruit test.

RFD will be offering the public another opportunity to get familiar with the test at the Regional Public Safety Training Center this weekend, January 20 and 21, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., when RFD firefighters will assist the public through the six testing events without the same level of stress that comes with taking the actual test. The last training group will start at about 2 p.m.

Anyone 18 and older is welcome to attend. Registration is limited to 30 people per morning and afternoon session (120 total). To sign up, email your name and phone number to RFDRequests@reno.gov. Please specify if you'd like to attend the morning or afternoon session and which date. The deadline for signups is Thursday, January 18, 2018.

Participants should dress for outside activity, bring water and be prepared to be outside a couple hours to complete all six events. Media is invited to cover and participate in the training.

“This is part of the Reno Fire Department’s commitment to recruiting a diverse pool of local candidates, and giving them the tools to succeed in the testing process,” RFD Division Chief Dick Nachtsheim said.
