Reno Fire Department offers free physical agility testing
The Reno Fire Department (RFD) plans to test for recruit firefighters in March 2018. In preparation, RFD is helping interested local citizens increase their chances of passing the physical agility portion of the recruit test.
RFD will be offering the public the chance to get familiar with the test at the Regional Public Safety Training Center (5190 Spectrum Blvd. in Reno) this weekend, December 9 and 10, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. RFD firefighters will assist the public through the six testing events without the same level of stress that comes with taking the actual test.
Attendees can report to the main desk of the Training Center; no pre-event sign-up is necessary. The last training group will start at about 2 p.m.
“This is part of the Reno Fire Department’s commitment to recruiting a diverse pool of local candidates, and giving them the tools to succeed in the testing process,” RFD Division Chief Dick Nachtsheim said.
RFD plans to offer this training for the public three times before the actual test in March. Future scheduled dates are January 20 and 21, 2018; and February 24 and 25, 2018. Participants should dress for outside activity, bring water and be prepared to be outside a couple hours to complete all six events.
