City Council Proclamation to honor Reno artist Adam Cates

A Reno City Council Proclamation on Monday, November 24, 2014 will honor Reno native Adam Cates for his superior accomplishments in professional theater. The City Council meeting starts at noon on the first floor of Reno City Hall.

Cates, whose career in dance began locally in Reno’s public schools and local studios, has excelled in his profession as a dancer, choreographer, director, lecturer, leader of masterclasses, and recently as an author.

He was a member of the creative team that was honored with the 2014 American Theater Wing Tony Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and Drama Desk Award for Best New Musical, “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.”

“In the arts community, this is the equivalent of winning an Olympic gold medal,” says Christine Fey, Resource Development and Cultural Affairs Manager for the City of Reno. “The City of Reno Arts and Culture Commission is proud of the tremendous talent in and from Reno and the individuals who contribute so much to our city.”

Always eager to give back to the community, Cates has also returned to Reno as Artist in Residence at the University of Nevada, Reno. A bio and photo of Cates can be found here for your convenience.
