Summary Description:
Under general supervision, the Court Security Information Officer serves as the primary point of contact for Reno Municipal Court visitors entering the courthouse. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by screening visitors, monitoring access to court facilities, providing information and directions to the public, and assisting judicial officers, court staff, and law enforcement personnel with security-related matters.
Representative Duties:
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and change business practices.
1. Monitor and control the closed-circuit security screens within the Reno Municipal Court; recognize potential problems and security risks as they occur and act in accordance with established policies and procedures.
2. Monitor the door access system for the Reno Municipal Court; direct responses to active alarms in accordance with policy and procedure.
3. Facilitate radio communication between the Marshal Division and other law enforcement agencies within the court complex.
4. Maintain assigned duty stations located throughout the court facility; provide accurate information and assistance to patrons upon request.
5. Conduct facility inspections and provide written forms documenting facility needs.
6. Monitor and facilitate admittance into the secure parking garage located within the court facility.
7. Enforce courthouse security policies, procedures, and access control requirements.
8. Provide information, directions, and general assistance to court users, jurors, attorneys, and members of the public.
9. Observe and report suspicious, disruptive, or unsafe behavior.
10. Coordinate with law enforcement, judicial officers, and court administration regarding security concerns.
11. Maintain incident logs, reports, and other security-related records.
12. Provide professional and courteous customer service while maintaining security standards.
13. Perform related duties as assigned.

Monday-Thursday:7:15 am - 5:45 pm

· Knowledge of customer service principles and conflict de-escalation techniques.
· Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations in a professional manner.
· Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to security threats and emergencies.

· Ability to prepare accurate reports and maintain records.
· Ability to work effectively with court staff, law enforcement agencies, attorneys, and the public.
· Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
· Analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine proper course of action.
Education and Experience Guidelines:

High School Diploma
Experience:
Two years of experience in security, law enforcement, military service, public safety, customer service, dispatch, or a related field is highly desirable.
Valid driver's license may be required.

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a security setting in a courthouse; walk, stand, or sit for prolonged periods of time; occasionally run, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; regularly push, pull, lift, and/or carry light to moderate weights; operate office equipment including use of computer keyboard; requires a sense of touch, finger dexterity, and gripping with hands and fingers; ability to speak and hear to exchange information; and ability to visually observe screens on closed circuit television monitors and door access system monitors.
