At the August 13, 2025 Reno City Council Meeting, Council adopted a new resolution restructuring portions of the City’s boards and commissions system.

To help all current board members understand the changes and to provide the resources needed to be effective the City of Reno is hosting a Board Member Training Session:

Monday, September 15 at 5:30 PM
Council Chambers, Reno City Hall (1 E 1st St. Reno, NV 89501)
In-person and Zoom option available (session will be recorded)

Free parking is available in the City's parking garage located off of University Way (formerly Center St.). The building can be accessed through the front doors facing Virginia Street.

This two-hour training will cover both general board member responsibilities and Neighborhood Advisory Board (NAB)-specific functions:

  • Hour 1 – All Board & Commission Members: Nevada Open Meeting Law, Public Records, Roberts Rules of Order, overview of the new resolution, and introduction of the Board Secretary role.
  • Hour 2 – NAB Members Focus: Training on NAB responsibilities, how feedback is incorporated into development review, and a hands-on exercise with a sample project in coordination with the Development Services team.

The public is welcome to attend as well to promote transparency and give residents who may wish to serve on a City of Reno board in the future an opportunity to learn more about the City’s boards and commissions.
