Saving Faces

Portrait Society of Reno

McKinley Arts & Culture Center
Gallery East
February 3 – March 13, 2020
Reception: February 6, 5:00 – 7:00 PM

Gallery East in the McKinley Arts & Culture Center is proud to host ‘Saving Faces,” a collection of portraiture by the members of the Portrait Society of Reno.  The pieces shown are as diverse as the artists who created them and as their subjects.  The portraits range from life-size paintings to small, intimate sketches.  Gentle pastels are in abundance along with paints, graphite, and a host of other media.  Each work tells a brief but profound story of the subject’s life – a long history captured in a moment and preserved for posterity.

The Portrait Society of Reno has been gathering to practice the fine art of portraiture for over 50 years.  The society officially incorporated in 2000.  Some of the most accomplished artist in the Reno area have been members of the Portrait Society.  They meet weekly to practice their skills with a live model.  The Portrait Society of Reno is dedicated to the appreciation of, and education in, the art of portraiture.
