‘Don’t Cut Your Hair It’s Beautiful’ is a series of work dealing with the acknowledgment and acceptance of body hair in our society.  Each piece is made through an experimental printing process. Text is added to cut human hair through dying, bleaching, and printing with ink.  Epilated hair and wax strips with printed text are sewn into clothing.  The show plays with the tension between what is considered desirable and what must be erased, between the idea of hair as a marker of beauty and as a commodity, and between hair as a remnant and a keepsake.

Kellee Morgado received her BFA in graphic design from Appalachian State University in 2017.  She is the current Redfield Fellow at the Black Rock Press.   Her work often focuses on artist books, textiles, and printed matter.  She has shown in North Carolina, New York, California, Nevada, and the Netherlands.  To learn more about her work, visit her website.
