Emergency Communications (ECOMM) provides the point of contact for the citizens of Reno and Washoe County when an emergency strikes. The Staff of professionals at the Emergency Communications Center, working as a Division of the Reno Information and Technology Department, also provides dispatch services for the public safety providers at the Reno Police Department and Reno Fire Department. Reno ECOMM also contracts dispatching services for the Washoe County Sheriff's office, University of Nevada-Reno Police, Truckee Meadows Community College Police, Sierra Fire Protection District, the Reno Marshals Office, and Washoe County Alternative Sentencing.
ECOMM is a member of an elite group of emergency communications agencies that are accredited during the guidelines of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). By maintaining and improving the high standards demanded of this accreditation, ECOMM assures that the best possible service is delivered to both the citizens and the agencies it serves.
Communications Manager Steve Peach and the ECOMM staff are dedicated to providing the most professional service possible. Excellence in training, finding and using the best technology, and assuring that staffing levels are optimum are the continued goals for the division.
