Notification July 23 - August 3 Construction & Traffic Update (.pdf) (posted July 23) Includes detailed construction info and lane restrictions.

There will be 3 major phases of construction on this project with final roadway resurfacing occurring primarily between mid-May through August after the pipeline work is completed in each phase.

Phase 1 Jan-March 2012
8th Street, I-80 Westbound Off-ramp & North Virginia St, 8th St. to Artemesia St.
Phase 2 April-May 2012
North Virginia St., Lawlor Events Center to Sierra St.
Phase 3 June-August 2012

What exactly are we doing?
The project will involve extensive underground trenching which primarily includes the placement of approximately; 7,700 linear feet of 24-inch and 30-inch sewer pipe, 800 linear feet of water line, 400 linear feet of gas line and after the completion of the pipe work the roadway will be resurfaced with a 2-inch grind and overlay.

How will this work be done?
This project will be constructed during daytime and nighttime hours and also on several marathon weekends to expedite the total duration of the project. During construction, lane restrictions and street closures will be required for safety. If possible, we recommend you consider alternate routes to and from your property. All efforts will be made for access to your property for the duration of the project; however, temporary driveway closures may occur during certain construction activity (for example, trenching, concrete driveway replacement and pavement replacement). Q&D Construction Company will notify you 18-24 hours in advance of driveway closures.

How does this project affect residents/businesses?

  • Lane restrictions and street closures will be required at times.
  • For safety reasons, parking on the street will not be possible within the construction traffic control zones during construction.
  • RTC RIDE bus service may be temporarily impacted within the project area. Detours or changes to bus stop locations will be noted in advance at the affected bus stop.

Who is doing the construction?
The City of Reno has awarded the North Virginia Sewer Interceptor Phase 1B construction contract to Q & D Construction Company.
