Judge Dilworth is the senior judge of the Reno Municipal Court having been first elected in 1987. He was a Deputy District Attorney in Sacramento, California for one year after completing law school and then returned to Reno, Nevada to serve as an Assistant City Attorney prior to being elected to the bench.
He has been a member of numerous community boards of directors and task forces, including the Committee to Aid Abused Women & Family, Suicide Prevention & Crisis Call Center, the Reno Family YMCA, the Homeless Coalition and the Northern Nevada D.U.I. Task Force. He has served as Chair of the Leadership Council of the Greater Reno-Sparks Chamber. He is on the faculty of the National Judicial College in Reno.
Judge Dilworth has been a member of the Board of Governors of the American Judges Association and has served on the Executive Committee as well.
Judge Dilworth served on a Nevada Supreme Court Special Committee to rewrite the Canons of Judicial Ethics and the Special Study Committee on the authority of the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline.
He has recieved the Distinguished Jurist Award from both the National Judicial College and the Nevada Supreme Court and was recently presented with the award for Outstanding Achievement in Judicial Education with more than one thousand hours of judicial education.
Judge Dilworth was honored as Judge of the Year in 1988 by the Nevada Judges Association.
Judge Dilworth received his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law and holds a degree in speech communication from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Judge Dilworth has been a resident of Nevada since 1971, is married to Lawyer Peggy Manes and has one son, Jonathan.
