When Renée joined the City of Reno in 2007, she brought a wealth of experience in recruitment and employee development to the Human Resources Department. As Director, Renée oversees benefits administration, customer service, employee relations and payroll.
Human Resources is an important strategic partner to other City departments and the overall goals of the organization. Renée works to provide successful customer service to Reno residents through strong recruitment efforts and the retention of employees.
Before joining the City of Reno, Renée was the Director of Human Resources for the City of Santa Clara and Human Resources Director for the Social Services Agency in the County of Alameda, Oakland, California. She was also the Chief Administration Officer for the Menlo Park Fire Protection District in
Menlo Park, California. She garnered skills in administering labor relations and contracts, diversity programs, safety programs, civil service rules, personnel rules, customer service and benefits administration.
Among Renée’s most important accomplishments are the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist designation in 2001 from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania; the International Public Management Association for Human Resources Certified Professional designation in 2001, 2004, 2007 and 2010, from the International Public Management Association for Human Resources; and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) in1992 from the Insurance Institute of America.
Renée has been a member of the Truckee Meadows Community College Fast-Track Community Advisory Council since 2011 and is also an Executive Board member of the Nevada Health Care Coalition. She is a past member of the League of California Cities Employee Relations Committee; a former Commissioner and Chairperson for the City of Oakland Civil Service Board in Oakland, California; a former Management Committee Member for the Joint Powers Authority, Bay Area Employee Relations Service; and former President of the Northern California Chapter of the International Public Management Association for Human Resources.
Renée holds memberships with the International Public Management Association for Human Resources, the Nevada and California Public Employers Labor Relations Association, the National Public Employers Labor Relations Association, the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist Society, the Northern California Chapter of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Society for Human Resource Management.
Renée is really passionate about her husband and granddaughter.
On weekends you will find Renée swimming, going to the Opera and movies, and reading.
She also volunteers for the Truckee Meadows Community College Fast-Track Community Advisory Council and neighborhood clean-up efforts.
