Kate brings her passion for the environment to the office as she works to invoke conservation and sustainable efforts in to her projects whenever possible at the City of Reno.

As Budget Director, Kate manages the City’s nearly $300 million budget, strategic planning, grant and fund development and Federal legislative functions. Kate is passionate about Reno, is dedicated to ensuring its financial stability and is excited to be part of the continued opportunities Reno faces.

Kate began her career overseeing environmental programs for the City of Thousand Oaks in Ventura County, California. That is where she fell in love with local government work and contributing to the betterment of her community. Kate and her husband moved to Nevada in 2004 where she worked for the City of Reno as the Assistant to the City Manager. Kate left the City in 2007 to serve as Deputy Secretary to Nevada Secretary of State, Ross Miller. There she oversaw the budget, accounting, IT and personnel functions for the Office of the Secretary of State.

Kate obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Resource Development/Environmental Studies from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix.

Kate has served locally as a board member and Board President of Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, a private 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a cleaner, more beautiful region through education and active community involvement.

On most weekends Kate can be found with her family (Derek, Miles, Max) skiing, or enjoying Lake Tahoe.
