The City engaged the community in defining the needs and interests for the downtown river corridor in Workshop #1 which was held at three different locations.
The next step was to take that input and develop some alternative concepts and themes for consideration at Workshop #2. Using input from Workshop #2, the study team will prepare a recommendation to the community for the set of guidelines and themes to be considered for the replacement structures.
Workshop #3 was held on Tuesday October 21, 2008 at McKinley Arts & Culture Center. Using input from Workshop #2, input was sought on the desired level of flood protection (in terms of a recurrence interval, i.e., 100 yr protection vs. 75 year protection) to be provided by any replacements of downtown bridges and related structures. Part of this discussion involved bridge structure type as well. A final report will be made to council in the fall of 2008.
