Emergency Communications (ECOMM) provides the point of contact for the citizens of Reno and Washoe County when an emergency strikes. The staff of professionals at the Emergency Communications Center also provides dispatch and support services for the public safety providers at the Reno Police Department and Reno Fire Department.
Reno ECOMM also contracts dispatching services for the Washoe County Sheriff's office, University of Nevada-Reno Police, Truckee Meadows Community College Police, Sierra Fire Protection District and the Reno Marshals Office.
ECOMM is a member of an elite group of emergency communications agencies that are accredited using the guidelines of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). By maintaining and improving the high standards demanded of this accreditation, ECOMM assures that the best possible service is delivered to both the citizens and the agencies it serves.

- Dispatching calls efficiently and with all necessary information in order to save lives, prevent injury, and protect property.
The ECOMM staff are dedicated to providing the most professional service possible. Excellence in training, finding and using the best technology, and assuring that staffing levels are optimum are the continued goals for the division.
City of Reno Emergency Communications is a division of the Communications and Technology Department which is headed by Manager Daniel Johnson.
The day to day operations of the communications center are overseen by the Assistant Manager Kelley Odom. Kelley began employment with Reno Emergency Communications in 1989 as a public safety dispatcher. She was heavily involved in the training program and was in charge of overseeing the cross-training of employees in all aspects of the dispatch center from 1997 to 2002.
Kelley was instrumental in achieving initial CALEA accreditation for ECOMM in 2006 and reaccreditation in 2009. Kelley promoted to Assistant Manager In April 2011.

A supervisor is on duty at all times to assist you if you have questions or concerns regarding how your call was handled. Just dial 334-2121 and ask for the duty supervisor.
