The City Attorney’s Office serves as an important resource for the City of Reno. The Office consists of two primary divisions, Civil and Criminal. Each division is headed by a Chief Deputy City Attorney.
The City Clerk functions as the Clerk of the Council and maintains all official records of the City, pursuant to the Reno City Charter, Section 3.040. This includes providing for all public notifications, a comprehensive legislative tracking system for council action and minutes, as well as the indexing of all documents for archiving and retrieval.
The City Manager's mission is to carry out the policies and programs approved by the City Council and to provide administrative leadership.
The Civil Service Commission is established by the State of Nevada Legislature in the Reno City Charter, Article IX. The Commission is an autonomous body of seven City of Reno citizens. Commissioners have no other connection to the City of Reno and are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council to serve a five year term.
The Department of Communication and Technology operates all of the City's major information systems, including public safety dispatch, Citywide networks, software implementation and Geographic Information Systems.
The Community Development Department is responsible for the physical and economic development of the City. The activities of the Department range from maintaining the long range plans for the City to reviewing plans for new buildings and issuing business licenses.
Created in 1983. the Economic Development & Redevelopment Agency serves as the economic development arm of the City of Reno. The Redevelopment Agency has the power to: buy private property for resale; reallocate property and sales tax increment in order to finance the redevelopment program of the community; and use other incentives to foster redevelopment of blighted properties.
The Finance Department serves many important functions for our city and maintains several services used by Reno citizens and businesses. Finance services include sewer, revenue, purchasing and accounts payable.

As a separate and co-equal branch of government, the Court is responsible for the adjudication of traffic and criminal misdemeanor violations, and code violations that occur within the limits of the City of Reno. The Court also provides treatment and supervision to offenders who participate in its various specialty court programs, promoting public safety and accountability in those seeking recovery.
The Office of Management and Budget assists the City Manager by providing credible budget and fiscal planning, analysis and management services to enhance service delivery to City of Reno residents.

The City of Reno Public Safety Dispatch department is a regional 9-1-1 emergency response center that provides service to the citizens of Reno and the surrounding areas within Washoe County.
