Each year the City of Reno Arts & Culture Commission grants funds to various art organizations. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) non-profits. Two different grant categories were offered for the fiscal year 2017-2018. $204,367 has been awarded. Recipient organizations are listed below in each category.


July Event Grants

Arts for All Nevada – Awarded $8,000

$8,000 to support the 2017/18 educational outreach for self contained special education Washoe County School District classrooms. These hands on classes culminate in a visual arts exhibition at the Lake Mansion downtown

A.V.A. Ballet Theatre – Awarded $7,500

$7,500 to support the company’s 2017/18 Season which includes production of Swan Lake and Nutcracker Classical Ballet

Build Our CenterAwarded $1,500

$1,500 to support their Painting Through Recovery program

Good Luck Macbeth Theatre Company – Awarded $7,585

$7,585 to support the 2017/18 Season

Holland Project – Awarded $8,000

$8,000 to produce a series of art workshops which culminate in a variety of performances and exhibits in Reno during FY17/18

KNPB Channel 5 Public Broadcasting - Awarded $7,585

$7,585 to produce segments on the local art scene for the show Art Effects 17/18

Lake Tahoe Shakespeare FestivalAwarded $7,840

$7,840 to provide an educational program for schools in Reno, InterACT 2017/18

Merry War Theater Group – Awarded $2,300

$2,300 to produce their annual Summer Shakespeare show

Nevada Museum of Art – Awarded $6,000

$6,000 to produce the annual Scholastic Art Awards competition in the fall of 2017 culminating in a major exhibition in the spring of 2018

Note-Able Music Therapy Services - Awarded $7,500

$7,500 to support their music therapy services 

Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts – Awarded $7,670

$7,670 to support their youth programs including live performing arts programming in elementary schools throughout Reno and during special events like Artown

Reno Art WorksAwarded $3,760

$3,760 to produce the fourth annual Sculpture Fest in downtown Reno, May 2018

Reno Chamber Orchestra – Awarded $8,000

$8,000 to support the 2017/18 Season of live chamber music concerts

Reno Jazz Orchestra – Awarded $8,000

Reno Jazz Orchestra - $8,000 to support the 2017/18 Season of live jazz concerts and education program

Reno Little Theater – Awarded $8,000

$8,000 to support the 2017/18 83rd Season

Reno Philharmonic Association – Awarded $7,550

$7,550 to support Young People’s Concerts performed at the Pioneer Center during the FY17/18 school year

Reno Pops Orchestra – Awarded $3,430

$3,430 to support their Fall Concert: Goblins and Ghouls

Reno Rodeo Foundation - Awarded $5,000

$5,000 to produce the Reno Rodeo 100 Storytelling event 

Renown Health Foundation – Awarded $4,800 

$4,800 to support the Healing Arts Performance Series which offers live music and theater to patients, their care givers and the community. This program provides a training ground for artists to hone their skills for performances and events throughout Reno

Sierra Arts Foundation – Awarded $7,627 

$7,627 to support the Elder Care Concert Series of free monthly concerts for senior citizens who reside in assisted living facilities, long term care facilities, memory care units and community based senior day care facilities. This program provides a training ground for artists to hone their skills for performances and events throughout Reno

Sierra Nevada Ballet – Awarded $7,613

$7,613 to present the full length ballet Sleeping Beauty the summer of 2017

School of the Arts, University of Nevada, RenoReno Jazz Festival – Awarded $8,000

$8,000 to the School of Music to produce the Reno Jazz Festival in April 2018 which attracts over 10,000 high school students to UNR for workshops, clinics, scholarships, competitions and awards in addition to several concerts featuring nationally recognized jazz artists which are also open to the public

School of the Arts, University of Nevada, Reno – Awarded $6,740

$6,740 to University of Nevada Extended Studies to produce the Performing Arts Series which presents top notch touring artists in performance, educational outreach and artist in residence activities during the FY 2017/18 Season

TheatreWorks of Northern Nevada – Awarded $3,000
