Each year the City of Reno Arts & Culture Commission grants funds to various art organizations. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) non-profits.  Three different grants were offered for the fiscal year 2016-2017. $194,396 has been awarded. Recipient organizations are listed below in each category.

Arts for All Nevada (formerly known as VSA Arts) to produce the Lake Mansion Jingles Art Exhibit and Festival November 11, 2016 – April 30, 2017

A.V.A. Ballet Theatre - Awarded $3,500

 AVA Ballet Company will produce the McKinley En Point Dance Intensive and Performance June 12-16, 2017

Nevada Museum of ArtAwarded $4,500

Hands ON! Second Saturdays transforms the Nevada Museum of Art into a dynamic community venue, designed to engage families in the visual arts through free, interactive art-making activities, performances and storytelling, in addition to the Museum’s exhibitions, which families may tour alone or guided by a trained docent.

Sierra Arts Foundation – Awarded $4,250

Sierra Arts Gallery is committed to presenting and supporting the best regional emerging artists through grants and gallery shows for the following 2016/17 Gallery Season

Latino Research Center, University of Nevada, Reno – Dia de los Muertos 2016 – Awarded $3,000

The University of Nevada, Reno Latino Research Center will present its annual Dia de los Muertos 2016(Day of the Dead) on October 30, 2016

 Arts for All Nevada - $7,000 to support the 2016/17 educational outreach for self contained special education Washoe County School District classrooms. These hands on classes culminate in a visual arts exhibition at the Lake Mansion downtown

 A.V.A. Ballet Theatre - $6,400 to support the company’s 2016/17 Season which includes production of Peter Pan a Contemporary Ballet and Nutcracker Classical Ballet

 Bruka Theater of the Sierra, Inc. - $6,000 to support the 2016/17 Season of seven main stage theater productions and four to five original play readings and writer development projects

Good Luck Macbeth Theatre Company – Awarded $6,000

Good Luck Macbeth Theatre Company - $6,000 to support the 2016/17 Season which will produce six- eight locally written plays, two full-length musicals and the Don Jim Martin Playwright Competition

Holland Project – Awarded $6,400

Holland Project - $6,400 to produce a series of art workshops which culminate in a variety of performances and exhibits in Reno during FY16/17

Lake Tahoe Shalespeare FestivalAwarded $6,000

Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival - $6,000 to provide an educational program for schools in Reno as a training ground for actors who will perform during the Will Power Shakespeare Celebration during 2017

Nevada Humanities – Awarded $6,400

 Nevada Humanities Committee - $6,400 to produce the Youth Chautauqua Program which trains young Chautauquas to perform during events throughout Reno during Artown

Nevada Museum of Art – Awarded $7,000

Nevada Museum of Art - $7,000 to produce the annual Scholastic Art Awards competition in the fall of 2016 culminating in a major exhibition in the spring of 2017

Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts – Awarded $7,000

Pioneer Center for Performing Arts - $7,000 to provide live performing arts programming in elementary schools throughout Reno and during special events like Artown

Reno Art WorksAwarded $2,750

Reno Art Works - $2,750 to produce the third annual Sculpture Fest in downtown Reno, May 2017

Renown Health Foundation - $5,060 to support the Healing Arts Performance Series which offers live music and theater to patients, their care givers and the community. This program provides a training ground for artists to hone their skills for performances and events throughout Reno

Sierra Arts Foundation – Awarded $6,400 

Sierra Arts Foundation - $6,400 to support the Elder Care Concert Series of free monthly concerts for senior citizens who reside in assisted living facilities, long term care facilities, memory care units and community based senior day care facilities. This program provides a training ground for artists to hone their skills for performances and events throughout Reno

Sierra Nevada Ballet – Awarded $6,000

Sierra Nevada Ballet - $6,000 to present the full length ballet Cinderella the summer of 2016;

School of the Arts, University of Nevada, RenoReno Jazz Festival – Awarded $8,500

University of Nevada Music Department - $8,500 to produce the Reno Jazz Festival in April 2017 which attracts over 10,000 high school students to UNR for workshops, clinics, scholarships, competitions and awards in addition to several concerts featuring nationally recognized jazz artists which are also open to the public

School of the Arts, University of Nevada, Reno – Awarded $7,500

University of Nevada Extended Studies - $7,500 to produce the Performing Arts Series which presents top notch touring artists in performance, educational outreach and artist in residence activities during the FY 2016/17 Season

University of Nevada, RenoSheppard Contemporary,Awarded $7,000

University of Nevada Sheppard Contemporary and University Galleries - $7,000 to support the 2016/17 Season of gallery exhibits.
