Access For All

The City of Reno welcomes the opportunity to provide accommodations to people with disabilities so that full participation in leisure and recreation programs, classes, services and facilities may be enjoyed by all. Department staff embrace the provision of the Americans with Disabilities Act. If you or a family member require a reasonable accommodation to participate in a program, please complete the Accommodations Request Form a minimum of five business days prior to the start of the program.

Personal Care Assistance
Individual with disabilities are encouraged to participate in our programs; however, those needing assistance with toileting, feeding, or dressing must make personal arrangements for this assistance.

Accessible Facilities
The City of Reno's facilities have been designed or remodeled and specialty equipment has been acquired to improve accessibility and functionality.  

• Parks - Park playgrounds feature accessible surfaces and play features for youth with disabilities. New ‘poured in place’ surfaces, transfer stations and low play components have been added. Wingfield Park Amphitheatre includes viewing areas and access for people with disabilities.
• Golf - Rosewood Lakes Golf Course offers two 2008 model single-rider accessible golf carts donated by Disabled Sports USA Far West. Additionally, an adaptive hitting chair and automatic tee, donated by the Fred and Judy Alexander Foundation, are available. The golf carts may be reserved when making a tee time with 24 hour advance notice. Adaptive golf clinics and lessons are also available.
• Aquatics - All City of Reno pools have lifts, slow lap lanes and therapeutic steps to make swimming more accessible for all users.
• Truckee River Whitewater Park at Wingfield Park - Ramped access to the river is available at Barbara Bennett Park and at Wingfield Park.
• Ice Skating - Sledges are available for use on the Rink on the River for persons with physical disabilities to enjoy the great winter time experience of ice skating in a seated sled/skate. Sledges are provided through a donation from the State of Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.
• Fitness Center - Universal fitness equipment is available at the fitness center at the Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center. This equipment was made possible through a donation from the Odyssey Foundation and the State of Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.
