2011-2012 ON-CALL CONCRETE REPLACEMENT
CONTRACT NUMBER F400007A

Sealed Proposals will be received by the City of Reno at the office of the City Clerk, 2nd Floor, One East First Street, Reno, Nevada, until 2:00 P.M. Local Time on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, for Contract Number F400007A.

Said Proposal shall include all labor, tools, implements, machinery, materials, and any incidentals necessary to complete the work in the manner and time prescribed, and in strict conformity with the Contract Documents to the satisfaction of the City Engineer. In general, the major work items include:

Removal, replacement and/or retrofit of panels, sections, and segments of concrete sidewalk, concrete stamped colored sidewalk, concrete curb and gutter, concrete residential driveways, concrete commercial driveways, concrete stamped colored commercial driveways, concrete stamped colored pedestrian ramps, concrete mid-block pedestrian ramps, concrete stamped colored mid-block pedestrian ramps, truncated domes, sidewalk cross-drains, concrete alley way aprons and steel plate tree root mitigation; city wide, on an as-needed basis. All work shall include, but not be limited to saw cutting, traffic control, removal and disposal of concrete, subgrade preparation, compaction, placement and installation of aggregate base and new PCC concrete, sealing of new concrete, expansion joints, temporary asphalt patching and all labor, equipment, materials, and all incidentals necessary for a complete in place installation of all concrete structures as defined above. All quantities listed in the schedule of prices are only for the purposes of comparing bids and represent no guarantee of the quantities to be completed. The total contractual amount as submitted by the lowest responsible bidder will be subject to change at the discretion of the Engineer.

Contract Documents may be obtained by prospective bidders through the office of the City Engineer, 8th Floor, One East First Street, Reno, Nevada on or after 9:00 A.M. Local Time, Friday, September 2, 2011. Contract Documents may also be examined at the office of the City Engineer, 8th Floor, One East First Street, Reno Nevada; Reno Builders Exchange, 634 Ryland Street, Reno, Nevada; Rick’s AEC Reprographics, 1909 Prosperity Street, Reno, Nevada; Sierra Contractor’s Source, 500 Ryland St. #100, Reno, Nevada; Brownie’s Digital Imaging, 3515 Airway Dr. #203, Reno, Nevada; and at Nevada Blue, 9738 South Virginia Street, Suite D, Reno, Nevada. Contract Documents will be furnished for Ten Dollars ($10.00) for each set; such payment will be non-refundable. Checks should be made out to the City of Reno. Contractors requesting this material by mail or phone must include their Federal Express number for expedited shipping.

All Proposals must be submitted on the City of Reno Proposal Forms provided in the Contract Documents, and must be accompanied by a bid bond, a certified check, a cashier’s check, or cash in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid. All bidders shall appear on the official plan holder list.

The City reserves the right to reject any or all Proposals.

The attention of Bidders is directed to the State Contractor’s License Law (NRS Provision 624.700 as amended to date) and the City License Law that a Contractor hold a valid license with each agency.

Qualified bidders must hold a valid State of Nevada Contractor’s License in one of the following classes at the time the Proposal is submitted to the City of Reno: Class A, General Engineering (NAC 624.140); Class AB, General Engineering & General Building (NAC 624.180); Class C-5, Concrete Contracting (NAC 624.230). Failure to possess the appropriate Contractor’s license at the time the Proposal is submitted will result in the Proposal being rejected. Contractors will be required to indicate on the plan holders list what Contractor’s license they are bidding this project.

For projects which are estimated to exceed $2.5 million in accordance with the engineers estimate, Bidders must be prequalified pursuant to NRS 338.1382(1)(a) to bid on the project. Bidders at the time of submission of the bid must be qualified by the State of Nevada Public Works Board and be on the State Public Works Board Qualified Bidder List. A bidder not prequalified is not an eligible bidder.

Minority and Women Business Enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this notice, and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, or national origin in consideration for and award of any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement. The City of Reno affirms its interest in and encourages the different contracting communities to actively pursue participation and utilization of Minority and Women Business Enterprises on City projects.
