Reno City Council selects Newby as City Manager
During a Special Meeting today at Reno City Hall, Reno City Council unanimously selected Sabra Smith Newby as the new Reno City Manager. The selection is contingent upon the negotiation of an Employment Agreement, expected to be discussed by Council on March 22, 2017.
“Sabra Smith Newby has a wealth of experience and the tenacity to get things done in Reno," said Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve. "I would be honored if she would accept the position to lead our city.”
The other finalist, Mark Scott, withdrew from the selection process publically, rather than conduct his second interview with Council.
An extensive recruitment was conducted at Council’s direction for a new City Manager. As a result, four finalists were interviewed and the top candidates, Newby and Scott, were further introduced to the public and completed an additional interview with Council.
