Sewer Rehabilitation Project causes temporary street closure

Post Date:03/27/2014 4:20 PM
The following traffic detours will be in place this weekend:
  • Traffic traveling southbound on Kietzke Lane can access East 2nd Street by following the detour to Kuenzli Street west to Manuel Street, then south to East 2nd Street.
  • Traffic traveling northbound on Kietzke Lane will be reduced to one lane of travel near Lewis Street, and no left turns will be permitted at East 2nd Street. Motorists will be able to access East 2nd Street by following the detour at Kuenzli Street west to Manuel, then south to East 2nd Street.
  • Traffic traveling westbound on East 2nd Street will be detoured at Kietzke Lane north to Kuenzli Street, then west to Manuel Street, then south to East 2nd Street.
The intersection will reopen on Monday, March 31 at 6 a.m., and Kietzke Lane will continue to be restricted to one lane southbound and one lane northbound. On Monday, March 31, Kuenzli Street will be closed at Kietzke Lane, and business access will be maintained from Giroux Street.

For safety reasons, parking on the street will not be possible within construction traffic control zones. Individuals may be required to park their vehicles outside the closure and walk to businesses or residences. Businesses in the area will remain open during construction.

About the 2014 Sewer Rehabilitation Project

The Sewer Rehabilitation Project is a part of a comprehensive sewer plan that will allow for increased capacity to handle tributary waste flows from existing, proposed and future developments. This phase of the Sewer Rehabilitation Project (Kietzke/East 2nd/Kuenzli/Giroux) is anticipated to be complete by June 15, 2014.

The timing and scheduling of this project has been coordinated with Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), Renown Regional Medical Facility, Reno-Sparks Tribal Health Center and RTC RIDE.
